Assessment

mCLASS®:Reading 3D

Observational reading assessment software in English and Spanish for grades K–5.

Understand reading from every angle

Get a complete picture of each student’s ability to read with comprehension. mCLASS:Reading 3D combines quick indicators of foundational-skills development with a running-record Text Reading and Comprehension (TRC) diagnostic to determine how students find meaning in text.

How it works

After completing the mCLASS:DIBELS Next foundational skills assessment, teachers record observations with a running record to quickly analyze reading comprehension. They assign reading levels and monitor progress to support mastery of increasingly complex texts.

  • Quickly log observations and easily identify error patterns for any level.
  • Compare student progress with predictive, research-based benchmark goals.
  • Translate assessment data into instructional support.
  • Track progress and target instruction to individual student needs.
  • See mCLASS:Reading 3D in action.

Follow a first-grade teacher through the mCLASS running-record assessment, resulting analysis and action planning.

  • Prepare to assess.

Here the teacher is using the mCLASS application to select a level and book to assess David.

  • Keep a running record.

As David reads, the teacher notes word substitutions, omissions, repetitions and insertions on the device.

  • Learn the score.

Scores for the timed assessment are immediately available to gauge student progress.

  • Compare performance.

The teacher logs in to mCLASS for a class summary to compare performance with predictive benchmarks on a secure site.

  • Group students.

The Small-Group Advisor tool helps the teacher group students with similar needs to target instruction.

  • Aggregate data.

While the teacher uses tools in the classroom, administrators can aggregate data to understand progress.
