I am wondering how much of the Administration's concerns are influenced by the rising "footprint" of China on the African continent. Already, Chinese influence over the continent's natural resources is evident, which includes one of the only - if not only - working mercury mines, much copper production and tantalum (an important component in many electronics, mined in the Congo). Any thoughts?

I was left somewhat traumatised after going to see a screening of a controversial new Hollywood-backed short released this week, aimed at highlighting the link between minerals mined for British mobile phones and the use of rape and murder as weapons of war in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The aim of the campaign is to get the public to hold mobile phone companies accountable by signing a petition.

Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda, Gorilla Safari

Gorilla trekking has become one of the major safari activities in Africa particularly in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) . The mountain gorillas form a corner stone of Uganda's National tourism industry. The majority of the people who come to Uganda to see gorillas will also have time for other parts of the country.
