Imagine there was a scientifically complicated subject which was difficult to understand even if you had all the information. Imagine it would take you days, weeks, months to educate yourself on the subject. Imagine the subject had more rampant misinformation published than virtually any other subject published in the last 5 years. Imagine how long it would take you to assess the reams of conflicting information on the subject. Imagine the subject was further mired in political and religious controversy. @munevarjuan http://munevarjuan.blogspot.com/ http://www.facebook.com/pages/COLOMBIA-ORAL-BIOLOGY/6456797846 Delivering a comprehensive array of Scientific Instruments, Equipment Of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Zoology, etc. http://www.indiamart.com/op-gupta/ Lynn Margulis provided me a moment of light in the "Introduction to Cooperation" course of the Social Media Classroom of Howard Rheingold's University I love people who dare to break Orthodoxies, current paradigms that remain in place, preventing new ideas to blossom, new attitudes to anchor people minds and behavior; Lynn Margumlis has broken an incumbant paradigm that has dominated evolutionaqry biology too long. Her discovery of the Eukaryotic cells and her thesis about symbiosis as a fundamental evolutionary phenomenon was key to look at the Humans as cooperators also, and not exclusively selfish competitors for survival. Here's what Richard Dawkins declared: Richard Dawkins: I greatly admire Lynn Margulis's sheer courage and stamina in sticking by the endosymbiosis theory, and carrying it through from being an unorthodoxy to an orthodoxy. I'm referring to the theory that the eukaryotic cell is a symbiotic union of primitive prokaryotic cells. This is one of the great ach... read full post Ways to Defeat Diabetes without Drugs Diabetes is a lifelong disease in which there are high levels of sugar in the blood. As a result, our most deeply entrenched social structures – our top-down business models, our punitive legal systems, our market-based approaches to everything from education reform to environmental regulation – have been built on the premise that humans are driven only by self interest, programmed to respond only to the invisible hand of the free markets or the iron fist of a controlling government. In the last decade, however, this fallacy has finally begun to unravel, as hundreds of studies conducted across dozens of cultures have found that most people will act far more cooperatively than previously believed. Here, Harvard University Professor Yochai Benkler draws on cutting-edge findings from neuroscience, economics, sociology, evolutionary biology, political science, and a wealth of real world examples to de... read full post One more insigth from evolutioanary biology.
