According to the report from Nielsen released Dec 28th, 2011, Google was the most-visited US online brand with over 153 Million unique visitors per month, Facebook came in second and Yahoo came in third. YouTube led the way as the top US online destination for video. Check out the rest of the results: http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/online_mobile/nielsens-tops-of-2011-digital/ This is an interesting tutorial about building a custom Facebook fan page. It uses Google Sites integrated into Facebook apps. As the author explains, you can also use your own server to host content to be embedded into Facebook apps but it must be hosted on a secure page or you will run into problems. I'm not sure if I am comfortable with hosting important content on Google for Facebook. What do you think? Note: If Google is placing importance on something its because there's money to be made. An indication of how important mobile is becoming to the technology industry is Googles willingness to invest. So take note people, take note. Google has always been one of the yardsticks to measure technology innovation, this movement confirms that they continue to RAWK. http://www.Facebook.com/AniseSmithMarketing http://www.AniseSmithMarketing.com http://www.AniseSmithQRcodeMarketing.com Wow. Staggering but not surprising statistics. Having worked with several Latin American firms, we have learned that Google is our go to traffic driver. I'm a Google advocate anyway, so it's easy to understand why Latin Americans search queries are greater via Google. Read and enjoy. Liked by Robert Frankie While they get only about a 0.051% click-through rate (yes, you read that right, 1/2 of 1,000th), these numbers for Facebook are still astonishing. What would happen if they wisened up and used something like this - http://alexschleber.amplify.com/2011/02/23/very-perceptive-post-about-the-potential-for-a-new-kind-of-search-on-facebook/ - instead to show their "social ads" (display ads) against, instead of repeating the same ones against your limited, and relatively static profile and Like keywords over and over again? We know Google wants to be Skynet and what anarcho-capitalist wouldn't? The question is are they really ready for the war? Facebook is an unconventional giant. They prove regularly the petulance of youth, even if that is an exaggeration, as they make decisions with seeming disregard for their users. The question is does Facebook know how to fight conventionally or will a war with Google mean a new giant called Foogle where Larry Page ends up as nothing more than a face-puppet for the new, dominant force? |
