India, today standing on the threshold of the biggest boom in its medical tourism is also constantly grappling with its own age old medical tribulations. Prescription errors are amongst one of them. But they indeed are not new to India or to the medical world; they have been present almost since time immemorial, their history almost juxtaposing with that of language! Communicating the right dose and name of the medicine is equally important as diagnosing or treating the disease. Committing prescription error is a communication dodge, committed either by the doctor while writing the prescription or by the pharmacist who delivers the prescribed medicines. Prescription errors are the most common medical errors causing damage and sometimes even death. A prescription error may be caused due to several reasons like confusion over drug names; badly written prescriptions, careless interpretation by the pharmacist etc. http://www.doctorsrepublic.com/post-details.php?pid=73 A number of studies published in recent years have conclusively determined that a relationship between vitamin D receptors and vitamin D3 in a more general sense are directly related to alopecia, or premature hair loss, definitely exists. However, despite the mountains of evidence compiled between all of the various studies, the scientists and researchers continue to insist that the nature of the relationship remains unclear. People who have healthy levels of vitamin D tend to not get sick as often as the rest of the population. The problem is, according to a number of different studies, the abstracts of which are readily available online, most people do not get enough vitamin D. One of the reasons for this is that, let's face it, most of us do not sunbathe regularly (sunbathing entailing wearing only a swimsuit or less), and there simply aren't enough foods rich enough in the absorbent form of the hormone commonly mistaken for a vitamin to gain sufficient amounts from diet alone. That brings us to supplementation, which according to the Endocrine Society, is something all of us should strongly consider. The when it comes to vitamin D supplements is to make sure the label says "D3" (cholecalciferol) and not D2 (ergocalciferol). While the former is technically a hormone and the latter technically a vitamin, the benefits of the former relative to human health and immunodefense far outweigh those of t... read full post Liked by eganhealthcare |
