....“See, when I smoked pot it was illegal, but not immoral,” ....."That’s why you get to go to jail and I don’t.”..... Liked by robm47 Cameroon is off his trolley!.In this day and age, you,d have thought that people would wake up to the fact that morality is not the property of the church to be used to bludgeon people into following their particular fantasy.Morality is a choice we make to enable us to handle life and the choices presented to us. pick your displeasure....they're pretty much all covered here- as newt's list reads like the resume for some seedy harlequin romance novel character- but then why would we equate morality into what it takes to be president-? we never have in the past- glorifying lying- cheating- murder-(hit squads- gov. sanctioned- though they are government approved? i still don't feel that makes them any more legal than they have been in the past- but then this is another candidate i am talking about here...)) narrow mindedness- and intolerance- aggressive nature- in the ability to turn talking points into donations from corporations at the utterance of...."uhhh" and things of this ilk- he is pretty much running neck and neck with various other contenders in the humanity factor- or lack thereof In Condom Nation, Lord, a former historian for the Public Health Service, has given us a carefully researched and lively history of the federal government’s role in ensuring the health of America. It is also a pointed rejoinder to a nation awash in incredibly irresponsible sexuality, yet terribly fearful of sex education. It is widely believed that empathy is a good thing, from a moral point of view. It is something we should cultivate because it makes us better people. Perhaps that’s true. But it is also sometimes suggested that empathy is somehow necessary for morality. People who are empathetic are more sensitive to the perspectives and sufferings of others. They are more likely to make compassionate moral judgments. The problem comes when we try to turn feeling into action. Empathy makes you more aware of other people’s suffering, but it’s not clear it actually motivates you to take moral action or prevents you from taking immoral action. Nobody is against empathy. Nonetheless, it’s insufficient. These days empathy has become a shortcut. It has become a way to experience delicious moral emotions without confronting the weaknesses in our nature that prevent us from actually acting upon them. This is not a good development, is America starting to feel like Germany before the big war. Are Republicans planing to return us to their freedom fries and attack France, China and Africa. Is morality off the table? I don't want to find out so,those interested in JOBS and America winning the future need a landslide. Read my lips, you can't beat Republicans with "it was close". We must blow them out of the water like 2008, but much bigger. Liked by Disha patel To paraphrase John Rushdoony in "This Independent Republic", if our rights do not come from a God who is higher than governments, we are really screwed and our rights are at the whims of those governments, who recognize no authority, rule, morality or sense of conscience that is higher than themselves. And this is just the start. Check out the link to see what else they say that should grate against every true patriot. Liked by merriemarie I'm not sure why we have onward christian soldiers. http://live-free-in-an-unfree-world.com Liked by Disha patel Thom Hartmann once again reveals what is going on inside the (Koch Brother's) Tea Party. Remember when he exposed their Guerrilla Warfare tactics, http://www.thethinkingblue.com/teapartyguerrilla.html an eye opener for us all. Thom Hartmann knows we had better use some of their tactics if we wish to keep America Free and maintain a healthy Democracy. We don't have to join them, just learn from them. The Tea Party's bizarre economics - selfish morality - and destructive idealism is ruining our country and no one should turn a blind eye and allow the children to assault our nation and besiege it with ignorance that will assuredly TAKE IT DOWN. |
