The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is just about the worst piece of legislation imaginable, passed by the barest of margins against strong public opposition. Nearly two years after passage, it's growing more and more unpopular. So is now the time to equivocate on whether it's bad, really bad, or just slightly a little less than not that bad? As Ace of Spades points out, the nomination of Mitt Romney by Republicans would probably mean just that. Romney has repeatedly expressed support for parts of Obamacare. Romney even supports its most unpopular feature, the individual mandate to buy health insurance, when undertaken at the state level. While it may be true that a mandate to purchase a product is within the boundaries of the authority of states, that does not mean that forcing people to buy something is a good use of state power -- or a good precedent for the people to allow. But the main point here is that Romney is going to be forced to fall back to states' rights or ut... read full post What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9 (HCSB) The power sought by the federal government to force its will upon the people started long before President Obama took office. President Hamilton thought that the use of military force against the American people was justified to promote his unpopular Whiskey Tax. Does this sound familiar to anyone? The new tax is Obamacare, the force of Law is being waged against the states and the people by the Government and the Supreme Court. Although we the people fought and protested fehemently against the passing of Obamacare our 'representatives" refused to listen to us and passed the bill anyway, forcing all Americans to pay the tax thus imposed. I guess we have not yet learned from history. Maybe this time "we the people" will win this war against our freedoms. "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Righ... read full post SUMMARY: "The Obama administration proposes trimming $248 billion over 10 years from Medicare alone. Yet if fraudulent losses could be reduced by just a few percentage points, the issue becomes moot--and the medical support that tens of millions of Americans rely upon could continue uninterrupted.\ ... If only 10% is lost to fraud... that's $80 billion a year--... if it's 20% or 30%? [that's] $200 billion over 10 years. [We] wouldn't need to cut reimbursement rates for providers. [We] wouldn't need to restrict insurance coverage. [We] wouldn't have to increase deductibles." I know of several OTHER ways to save. Sadly, nobody is interested. And what kind of president talks about operating "without Congress"? Caller: Yes. And basically they don’t call them patients, they call them units. And instead of – they call it “ethics panels” or “ethics committees”, would get together and meet and decide where the money would go for hospitals, and basically for patients over 70 years of age, that advanced neurosurgical care was not generally indicated. Mark Levin: So it’s generally going to be denied? Caller: Yes, absolutely. …If someone comes in at 70 years of age with a bleed in their brain, I can promise you I’m not going to get a bunch of administrators together on an ethics panel at 2 in the morning to decide that I’m OK to do surgery. The European social welfare states -- with cradle-to-grave "free" health care and outrageous pension programs -- are collapsing as we speak. And Gruber thinks that the individual mandate will help drive down costs. by Doug Ross http://bit.ly/rC0zMW http://directorblue.blogspot.com There is also a political irony whatever way the Court ultimately decides. If it holds Obamacare unconstitutional, Obama’s attempt to “transform” the country will have been repudiated as a matter of constitutional law. But if it holds Obamacare constitutional, Obama’s political peril may be greater: the only recourse for voters — who currently support repeal of Obamacare by a 57-35 percent margin (with 42 percent “strongly” favoring repeal) — will be to change the President (and the majority in the Senate) so they can do so. Supreme Ironies: Obamacare and the Court by Rick Richman http://bit.ly/vwpahL http://pjmedia.com/blog Rick Richman’s articles have appeared in American Thinker, Commentary, The Jewish Journal, The Jewish Press, The New York Sun, and PJ Media. His blog is Jewish Current Issues. ... (those making less than $20,000) supports repeal by double-digits. Only those who make more than $100,000 oppose repeal — and even most people who reside in that group think Obamacare would be “bad,” rather than “good,” for the country (by a tally of 46 to 45 percent). In short, the more you move toward the middle of the income spectrum, the more unpopular Obamacare gets. A party looking to retain or reestablish the connection with the middle class that led to its overwhelming victory in 2010 would be well served to take increased notice of this. The economy is not the route to a GOP victory in 2012 (at least not in isolation); repeal is. Middle Class Americans Want Repeal By Jeffrey H. Anderson http://bit.ly/rSXCbj http://www.weeklystandard.com Liked by John Smith The U.S. State Department last week said it was reviewing alternate routes for the planned Keystone XL pipeline to avoid environmentally sensitive territory in Nebraska. That decision could move final approval, originally expected at the end of this year, to after the 2012 presidential elections in the United States. “This does underscore the necessity of Canada making sure that we are able to access Asia markets for our energy products,” he was quoted by The Wall Street Journal as saying. “And that will be an important priority of our government going forward.” The Canadian government said a heavy crude oil pipeline would get built to carry oil from tar sands projects in Alberta province one way or the other. The direction of that pipeline would depend on the end consumer. by Bryan Preston http://bit.ly/u7z6HA http://pjmedia.com/tatler Liked by Peter Egan Jr. Rasmussen’s newfound evidence that Gingrich could well be able to compete against Obama will likely further boost the former speaker’s support among a GOP electorate that’s hungry for someone who can persuasively articulate conservative principles while winning the presidency.
