I completed a page for Squidoo that denotes two 'holidays' and the word is in quotes because the days in question are not widely known. Bubble bath day and Thomas Crapper Day. You can read a little about them here: Bubble Bath Day and Other Bathroom Celebrations http://squidoo.com/bubble-bath-day-and-other-bathroom-celebrations Liked by sousababy GEORGE Best was as famous for his colourful remarks as his football, booze and women. Here are some of the best. ON THE NIGHT HE WON THE 1968 EUROPEAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR AWARD: ?Me and a mate picked up two darling birds and they took us back to their flat. ?I went into the bedroom with my bird and she started getting undressed. I was that drunk I was standing there wondering how to get undressed without letting go of the award. ?I went to sit on the bed, missed it by four feet and ended up lying on the floor. ?I remember the bird looking down at me, starkers, and saying, ?Some player of the year.? Then I fell asleep. I woke up still clutching my award and staggered out of the flat. I hadn?t a bloody clue where I was.? ON BOOZING: ?I did most of my drinking on my own. Often I?d spend hours sitting in a corner. I?d drink and when I?d had enough I?d just get up and go home to bed. Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage. They actually pick presidents in New Hampshire." But it's not an original line. Beth Hall of the New Hampshire Union-Leader quotes former Senator John Sununu with the line two weeks earlier. But it's a saying in New Hampshire, and it demonstrates the extent to which Huntsman has gone local there. But the smooth-talking Huntsman made another gaff in the same CBS interview (story here). "We're putting out the old Adlai Stevenson shoe leather". Stevenson was a Democrat, so it's possible Huntsman knows something actual Republicans need to learn. From the Flint Journal, Democrat Stevenson in 1952 It's not the first time Huntsman has used the shoe leather line, giving it as part of the justification for moving his campaign headquarters to New Hampshire. As a kid, I was one of many whose home lacked a chimney, so the yarn about Santa accessing our residence via that structure made no sense long before other realities demystified the Santa legend. Where did the legend of Santa flying from roof top to roof top and descending household chimneys originate? Many today insist that our religion (Christianity) was completely irrelevant and incidental to our founding, traditions, more's and culture. Quotes like this one abound and say otherwise. It is quoted in Cleon Skousen's "The 5000 Year Leap", which we will be using in a read and discuss group starting January 22, 2012 in Enid, OK. alt@source : "Life is confusing and terrible and great. A graduate from the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania where he read economics, he joined his father's organization and worked in the real estate market. He has since gone on to become a controversial, but extremely successful real estate developer. One of his early successes was the opening of the Grand-Hyatt in 1980. His later successes however make this one pale in comparison, one of which was his acquisition of the largest hotel casino in the world, the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Always making rumblings about running for US Presidency, he is a frequent national media spokesman and would-be political moderator on politics and presidential elections. Not able to keep quite about much of anything, Trump makes no pretense to hide his disdain for President Obama. ___ PQ : People Quotient back to Blogger } http://pq-pe... read full post |
