Why is Ron Paul using his time attacking Newt Gingruch - why not Santorum or Romney - or maybe he knows something the media doesn't. Maybe he perceives Gingrich to be more of a real threat to him than the other two. In any case, his arguments have no validity as is explained in the article.

Darkoogle's main goal is to remind people of the necessity to contribute to an enormous task of saving our Planet by reducing energy consumption.

Experiments with computer monitors conducted in the recent past were showing consistent energy savings with systems using darker interface colors. In January of 2007 a blog post titled "Black Google Would Save 750 Megawatt-hours a Year" suggested that if Google were to change its background color it would save a fair bit of energy. This idea spread across the internet resulting in creation of many web sites using energy saving color patterns combined with Google's custom search engines.

It was and still is a great idea. However, today's technology makes this approach less relevant. With LCD monitors becoming cheaper each year, page color has less and less impact on actual energy usage. That is why Darkoogle.Com took it to a new level.

Our web technology (that relies on AJAX) eliminates the need to reload the whole page when you su... read full post

There’s an enormous amount of importance attached to having a great website if you want to be successful in the world of online business. This can be somewhat daunting if you don’t think of yourself as being a web expert.
This doesn’t, of course, mean that you can’t run a business that relies on having a strong online presence. It simply means that you need to surround yourself with others who have the skills that you may lack! The difficulty in this area may be identifying those who appear to have the right skills.

We are born ignorant. It's the default position. It's only after education, logic, and experience that the position changes.

An ignroramus, after being given evidence and logic, will deny and blather incessantly. And will continue to vomit their ignorance in the face of decent, clear-thinking individuals who actually have an education.

The difference in a person like that and an intellectually equipped person is that accepting ANY proposition is backed by logic, plausibility, and evidence that anyone can examine and challenge. The difference between that and science is that science ends at CERTAINTY. Oops, I think I just heard the Theory of Relativity is out the window.

  1. davboz  It’s entirely possible that both positions are wrong. It may be MORE likely that we are born with certain timeless knowledge of the universe and our place in it. That may be the default position. It may be that as we “learn” the rules of the physical world around us... more

“Without a doubt and without hyperbole, it is the biggest ripoff in history.” Obviously the biggest myth behind the Social Security pyramid scheme was the notion that it was an “insurance” program. So-called “trust funds” contain no cash, but only bonds – pieces of paper signed by politicians representing promises to pay in the future. The government has already spent the money taken from millions of people for Social Security. It’s gone. The promise that you will get something out of the program later when you retire relies entirely on the government’s power to tax the next generation to its knees.

In 1912, President Wilson stated, “This country is no longer a Republic but is now a Democracy.” Samuel Adams said there never was a “democracy that did not commit suicide.”

Modern communications technologies are already being deployed as new forms of repression. Journalist Evgeny Morozov punctures what he calls "iPod liberalism" -- the assumption that tech innovation always promotes freedom, democracy -- with chilling examples of ways the Internet helps oppressive regimes stifle dissent. Showing how the internet strengthens dictatorships.

Modern authoritarian governments control the web in ways more sophisticated than guard towers. "We should be dropping iPod's not bombs!"

Human wellbeing in modern societies relies on social cohesion, which can be characterized by high levels of cooperation and a large number of social ties. Both features, however, are frequently challenged by individual self-interest. In fact, the stability of social and economic systems can suddenly break down as the recent financial crisis and outbreaks of civil wars illustrate. To understand the conditions for the emergence and robustness of social cohesion, we simulate the creation of public goods among mobile agents, assuming that behavioral changes are determined by individual satisfaction. Specifically, we study a generalized win-stay-lose-shift learning model, which is only based on previous experience and rules out green beard effects that would allow individuals to guess future gains. The most noteworthy aspect of this model is that it promotes cooperation in social dilemma situations despite very low information requirements and without assuming imitation, a shadow of th... read full post
